The latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV dropped on August 11th, and it brought a lot of new content to the game. The bulk of the update was reworking old dungeons, but it also added a new mount into the game: the Incitatus. This white, fiery, and just plain badass mount can be acquired through two methods, both of which require you to get the Incitatus Whistle to summon it.

Unreal Shiva Trial – Unlock Incitatus mount

The first method of getting the mount is to go through the Unreal Shiva Trials.

First, head to Idyllshire and find the Painfully Ishgardian Man, who will give you a quest that takes you to the Faux Hollows. In that area, use the Duty Finder to find a Duty that leads into the Trial.

The trial sees players battling Shiva, a common summon within the game. We recommend that you be at least level 80 before trying to tackle this challenge.

When you complete the Trial once, you should earn 100 of the Faux Leaf. You will need to trade 600 Faux Leaf with the Faux Commander in Idyllshire to get the whistle.

Unfortunately, you can only do the Trial once a week, so that means you will have to do it six times over six weeks to get enough Faux Leaf for it. It takes time, but it’s a very basic process.

Wondrous Tails – Unlock Incitatus mount

The other method you can get the whistle is to work on the Wondrous Tails that Khloe gives you each week. Every week, you can visit Khloe in Idyllshire, and she will give you a Wondrous Tails journal, in which various stamps can be collected.

You will need to complete the objectives and missions given in the journal to collect the stamps. You will need to fill up three lines in the journal with stamps to receive the Gold Certificate of Commendation.

You can use this certificate to trade with Khloe for the Whistle, skipping the entire Faux Leaf and Trial process.

Regardless of which method you use, the Incitatus Whistle will now be in your inventory. Just use the Whistle, and the mount will be summoned. Both methods are rather time-consuming, but they’re not very difficult to do. You just have to be patient, and soon that flaming mount will be yours.

Final Fantasy XIV is available now on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Mac.
