Pokémon Scarlet and Violet introduced a host of new features and companions. Moves are among the new additions to the franchise. If you’ve been starved for different Bug-type moves, consider trying out Pounce. Like many moves, you’ll have to find the TM first if you want to teach it to some companions. We’ll show you what you need to do to get TM021 Pounce so you can enjoy the move in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
TM021 Pounce Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
As we mentioned, Pounce is a Bug-type move first introduced in the latest 9th Generation. The move does exactly as the name implies. Your Pokémon will “pounce” on an opponent to cause damage. Additionally, the opponent’s Speed stat can decrease.
So, TM021 Pounce is a fun and useful way to teach a companion in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Numerous Pokémon can learn the move, too, such as Scyther, Vespiquen, Bramblin, and more. This gives you plenty of opportunities to use the move. None of the Pokémon know the move or can learn it via leveling up though. Your only choice is to find the proper TM for it.
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, TM021 is the right item to find for Pounce. You won’t have to look very far for it, though, since it is only in one location: Cortondo.
To get TM021 Pounce, you must head to Cortondo and defeat Gym Leader Katy, who specializes in Bug-type Pokémon. Once you defeat her, she will reward you with TM021.

Once you acquire TM021 from Katy, you can then teach it to one of your compatible companions. If you want to teach it to more, you will have to learn how to make TM021 Pounce in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
To craft more of the TM, head to a Pokémon Center to use the TM machine with the following materials:
- 800 LP
- x3 Tarountula Thread
- x3 Nymble Claw
As this TM doesn’t require that many League Points, it shouldn’t take long to save up.
Meanwhile, you can get Tarountula Thread from either Tarountula or Spidops. Check the following areas for these Pokémon:
- Casseroya Lake
- Tagtree Thicket
- The Pokémon League
- East Province (Areas One, Two)
- North Province (Area Two)
- South Province (Areas One, Four, Five)
- West Province (Areas Two, Three)
Lastly, for TM021 Pounce in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you need Nymble Claws. These come from Nymble and Lokix. Nymble is only generally found in two areas: South Province (Area Three) and West Province (Area One). However, you have plenty of chances to battle Lokix as they’re found in these regions:
- Alfornada
- Asado Desert
- Medali
- Montenevera
- Porto Marinada
- Zapapico
- East Province (Area Three)
- North Province (Areas One, Two)
- South Province (Area Six)
- West Province (Areas Two, Three)
A quick gathering of these materials will promptly allow you to craft as many TM021 Pounce items as possible.
