Each time you break an ore mound or rock, you get a small amount of experience that will slowly level up your mining skill; We recommend going into the mines and mining ore veins, as these will give you the most XP.

To level up your foraging skill in Stardew Valley, you will need to do one of two actions; harvest items on your farm or in the valley and chop trees down. Harvesting items on your farm will grant XP based on the value of the item you find.
Chopping trees down is the same amount no matter what; chopping small logs on the farm gives you no XP, so don’t bother relying on them for XP.
